This page was updated May 4, with information regarding the funeral service for Senator Orrin Hatch, a 21-gun salute adjacent to campus.
As another academic year comes to a close, campus eagerly prepares for the celebratory Commencement and Convocation events organized for our U student graduates and their extended family members who will be visiting campus.
Here's everything you need to know to navigate busier roadways and crowded parking lots.
Funeral for Senator Orrin Hatch and 21-gun salute
The funeral service for U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch will take place on Friday, May 6 at 1 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Institute of Religion building, which is adjacent to the University of Utah campus on South Campus Drive.
Because the funeral is open to the public and coincides with several of the U’s college convocation ceremonies, University Police expect that convocation traffic and parking will be impacted. Parking at the LDS Institute building will be reserved for funeral attendees from 6 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. on May 6.
Part of the funeral service will include a 21-gun salute, which will take place at approximately 2:30-2:45 p.m.
The area highlighted in green in the map below will not be available for College Convocation events from 6 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday, May 6.
