Construction on a new, 6-story parking garage began in October 2015 and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2017. The new garage, located east of the South Medical Tower (student housing building) and north of Shoreline student housing buildings, will house approximately 1,000 parking stalls for Health Sciences employees and students living on campus.
“Our newest parking garage will be open to the public less than five months from now,” said Alma Allred, director of Commuter Services. “Located on the eastern edge of the Health Sciences Center campus, it will provide parking for the growing health care and research employees of our campus. The addition of nearly 1,000 spaces will be a welcome change for many who have had few parking options for quite some time. A domino effect will be apparent as stresses are relieved from adjacent parking areas that have been perennially over crowded.”
In addition to strategically improving parking options, Commuter Services continues to work closely with Salt Lake City and Utah Transit Authority to improve alternative and public transportation options. All faculty, staff and students can use their UCards to ride UTA FrontRunnter, TRAX and most buses, and most athletics tickets also serve as UTA fare.
Parking lot designations can be found at the entrances of all parking lots. A printable parking map can be found here.
