Getting to know the Marriott Library

There’s lots to figure out when starting the semester, especially for new students. Here are some of the tools the J. Willard Marriott Library offers.

Subject specialists

With more than 80 majors offered at the University of Utah, there’s a lot to cover. Fortunately, there’s a librarian to help with most areas of study. Finding them is easy by using the library’s subject specialists page. Be sure to reach out to them early! They know the best databases, journals and more.

Study spaces

While there are many study areas in the library, they can fill up quickly. Make sure to reserve a room in advance to ensure the study session happens without hiccups. Plus, it’s even easier now with the new reservation tool!

Pick-up Requests

Save time by letting the library retrieve the item from the collections—both on the shelves or in the Automated Retrieval Center. Requesting a book from the library catalog is quick and easy. Once requested, books, films and video games are delivered to the west entrance for pickup.

Items not already at the Marriott Library can be requested from another library through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). In most cases, books are available within 1 – 2 weeks and electronic access to articles can be as quick as 24- hours.

Fall Fest happens every year at the Marriott Library and is a great way to learn how the library can help you succeed.

Fall Fest

Fun and food at the library? It’s happening at our annual Fall Fest event on Thursday, Sep. 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Level 3. It’s a great way to learn about many of the library’s resources, while at the same time getting some delicious food and entering to win prizes!
