This summer, SafeRide has updated its branding and is now known as URide! Commuter Services introduces URide, an evening ride-sharing service on campus. The program is meant to provide transportation to students, staff and faculty, Monday–Friday, from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
What is URide?
URide is a great resource for those who need an alternative transportation option during evening hours on campus. Students, staff and faculty can request a free ride to most locations at the U. The program functions similarly to other rideshare programs like Uber and Lyft, but only operates within university boundaries on weeknights from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. URide serves main campus, medical campus and Research Park.
How to use URide
To use URide, download the TransLoc app on your Apple or Android device. URide is only available to current students, staff and faculty members, and you must log in through a University of Utah account.
- Open the app and tap on the “Settings” button located in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap the “Log In” button, then tap on the “Log in with University Account” button.
- Select “University of Utah,” log in with your uNID and university password, then follow the prompted steps.
Once you’ve completed this process, you can request a URide. To request a ride, tap on the “View OnDemand Service” button. Users can only view the “URide” option during operating hours of Monday–Friday, from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. You may then enter your pick-up and drop-off locations.
