Complimentary face coverings for students

Face coverings are required this fall for all students, faculty, staff and visitors on the U's campus.

All currently enrolled U students can pick up one free U branded adjustable face covering this fall to add to their personal supply. Face coverings are required this fall for all students, faculty, staff and visitors on the University of Utah campus.

Students must present a valid UCard at one of the three on-campus locations or the one U satellite facility in Sandy. The ID number will be recorded by a staff member and the student will be given one face covering. It’s recommended to wash the face covering before use. For those in need of a UCard, updated pick-up procedures can be found on the UCard Services website.

Face covering pick-up locations and fall hours of operation

  • Ray Olpin Student Union
    At the Service Desk on the second floor or Union Recreation Desk (second floor) and the recreation desk (first floor)
    Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., closed weekends; starting Aug. 24 Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m.-9 p.m., closed on Sunday.

    Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., closed weekends
  • Eccles Student Life Center front desk
    Monday-Friday, 6-10 a.m., 4-8 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Sunday, 12-5 p.m.

    Aug. 17-21 | Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., closed weekends
    Starting Aug. 24 | Monday-Thursday, 12-10 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., closed weekends

Students moving into on-campus Housing & Residential Education facilities will be given a face covering at their appointed check-in time.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends washing face coverings after each use and washing your hands after handling or touching a used face covering. Face coverings can be included in regular laundry using laundry detergent and the warmest appropriate water setting for the cloth type. In the dryer, use the highest heat setting and leave in the dryer until completely dry.
