This year, the Ken Garff University Club has a new name, but the same benefits and experiences. If you haven’t already discovered this University of Utah campus gem, fall semester may be the perfect time.
Over the summer, the private club overlooking the Rice-Eccles Stadium field changed its name, dropping the word “scholarship,” but not the top-tier services and amenities available to all members of the U campus community—faculty, staff, students, parents and visitors. (The Club will continue to dedicate membership initiation fees to fund scholarships for university students.)
Modeled on clubs at college football stadiums across the country, the U’s Club offers extraordinary food, tastings, summer events, game-day watch parties and more.
“It’s the intangibles that make the Club such a special place—a modern and comfortable setting; delicious food and beverages; a sense of belonging and camaraderie; along with the added benefit of knowing your purchases go toward supporting the university and its students,” said Jennifer Reed, Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services. “We truly are lucky to have these amenities right on our doorstep at the south end of the stadium.”
The Club offers four membership price plans, including discounted rates for faculty and staff:
- The Resident—$200 initiation fee and $80/month, or the Resident XLife—$200 initiation fee and $135/month
- The Young Executive—$150 initiation fee and $40/month, or Young Executive XLife—$150 initiation fee and $95/month
- Faculty & Staff—$150 initiation fee and $37/month, or Faculty & Staff XLife—$150 initiation fee and $92/month
- Non-Resident—$150 initiation fee and $50/month, or non-Resident XLife—$150 initiation fee and $135/month
Departments can purchase memberships for individuals to use for university business, so long as the funding does not come from state-appropriated resources. Faculty also are welcome to host recruitment dinners at the club.
Members pay no booking fees, and there is no minimum purchase required for members. Private events at the Club, however, are required to meet a minimum food and beverage level based on the date, size and venue selected.
