University of Utah Human Resource Management (UHRM) is excited to be working on a process of transforming HR services across the campus, focusing on customer service and value. This project is called “Embedded HR” and the model has already been implemented in many academic and business units across campus with great success.
The goal is to embed an HR representative in a college or department to get the expertise on strategic HR issues co-located with our excellent faculty and staff across campus. This will allow HR to better understand who and how work is being done in schools, colleges and departments. UHRM will then be able to provide more strategic, timely and relevant advice to our administrators and employees.
This model and the embedded employees are supported by a Solution Center designed to provide immediate assistance to all employees, on any need, at any time. The Solution Center will provide access to online services, to support the in-person, telephone and email experiences with the Solution Center staff. To this end, technology is currently being developed to meet this need.
UHRM will still maintain its depth of expertise in all functional areas like recruitment, benefits, payroll, etc. Our Centers of Excellence, will support both our embedded teams as well as the Solution Center to ensure the information is current and accurate.
“We are so fortunate to have great partners across campus who are helping to make this effort so successful and look forward to engaging other areas on campus as we continue to roll out this model. We are committed to making sure we have an efficient and customer focused HR operation on campus,” said Chief Human Resources Officer Jeff C. Herring
Employee Appreciation Day
The University is ramping up preparations for Employee Appreciation Day, 2017. This year’s Employee Appreciation Day celebration is Thursday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium. All U employees, including student employees, are invited so, SAVE THE DATE.
Call for volunteers
Employee Appreciation Day couldn’t happen without the help of generous U employees who volunteer one or two hours of their time during Employee Appreciation Day. All volunteers receive a T-shirt and a pair of athletic tickets. Volunteers are still needed for this year.
To volunteer, please fill out this form, where you’ll be able to choose the time of day that works best for you and the type of work you’d prefer. A committee member will respond to confirm your assignment.
