Health care workers are pushing themselves to the limit to care for patients suffering from COVID-19 and stop the spread of the virus in our communities. On April 20th we joined with other members of the Association of American Universities to say thank you for all their hard work.
Using #proudtobeontheirteam members of our athletic community posted messages of thanks and support to their social media platforms. Football coach Kyle Whittingham, gymnastics coach Tom Farden, swim coach Joe Dykstra, and track and field coach Kyle Kepler were among those who posted using the hashtag along with #UtahCares.

We also had several members of the administration post messages as well.
Thank you to @utahathletics and all our coaches for joining with peers at @AAUniversities across the country to show support for the amazing health care employees and researchers on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19. #UtahCares

In addition to the messages on social media we as the U community decided to do something a little extra to say thanks. That night the U on the hillside was lit as a show of support for health care workers.
Our most heartfelt gratitude for those at @UofUHealth and all the other health care providers across the State of Utah, the nation and the globe. THANK YOU!#UtahCares #ProudToBeOnTheirTeam pic.twitter.com/K7JL9FoUVU

Our posts were among the more than 600 sent out by members of the AAU with more than 30,000 engagements reaching an estimated 20 million people! We hope the health care workers heard the message loud and clear. We are proud to be on your team.
