University of Utah President Ruth Watkins visited three parts of the state this summer, meeting with government, business, higher education and community leaders. The tour allowed President Watkins to learn business and community needs and challenges, from the demand for more engineers to supporting a diverse workforce. The president visited Moab and Green River on the third stage of the “Ruth 66 University for Utah Road Tour.”

Last stop: Vetere Melons in Green River. Greg Vetere and his daughter Heidi shared the story of their famous melon stand and helped the president pick a perfect Israeli melon.
