Steve Robinson will lead the university’s efforts to continue the expansion and diversification of its student body and assumes his position on July 15, 2019.

Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Daniel Reed is pleased to announce that Steve Robinson has been selected as senior associate vice president for enrollment management.

Steve Robinson is the new senior associate vice president for enrollment management.

Robinson is currently assistant vice president and chief of staff for student services and enrollment management at the University of Oregon. He will assume his position on July 15, 2019.

“This is a critical leadership position as the University of Utah builds on its success in attracting and retaining a talented and diverse student body,” Reed said. “Steve has a proven ability to create and lead collaborative, innovation and forward-thinking teams. I am excited about his ability to continue our momentum and imagine new possibilities as we engage prospective students from across the state, the country and the world.”

The U enrolled its largest, most diverse and most academically qualified class in the fall of 2018 and now has a student body of approximately 33,000. Robinson will lead the university’s efforts to continue the expansion and diversification of its student body. He will oversee all matters related to student recruitment, registration and financial aid, and implement strategies that promote student success.

“I am excited and honored to be joining the University of Utah,” Robinson said. “I look forward to continuing the many successes the U has enjoyed in recruiting and enrolling amazing students.”

As part of the senior leadership team at Oregon, Robinson helped recruit and enroll one of the largest first-year classes in its history, which also set a record for diversity. During his tenure, a new scholarship program aimed at attracting out-of-state students was created, a national recruitment plan that included placing recruiters in key markets deployed and a virtual reality campus tour experience was created.

Prior to joining the University of Oregon, Robinson served as the university registrar at West Virginia University. At West Virginia, he oversaw creation of an Office of the University Registrar and developed a strategic plan for the office, leading reforms that enhanced the student experience. His experiences also include serving as university registrar for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and as associate registrar at the University of Alabama.

Robinson is a consultant for the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Robinson received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and political science and a master’s degree in higher education administration from West Virginia University. He completed a doctorate in higher education administration at the University of Alabama.
