Having a smoothie is not only a refreshing and filling way to start the day, but it’s also an easy way to get some of your daily recommended servings of fruits and vegetables. Plus, you can experiment with different ingredients (flaxseeds, almond butter, carrots, mangoes, etc.) for greater nutrition and variety. Here are a couple healthy smoothie recipes to try. Strawberry Banana Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie
• 1 c low-fat/skim milk
• 1/2 c rolled oats
• 1 banana, broken into chunks
• 14 frozen strawberries
• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1.5 tsp honey (optional)Preparation
1. In a blender, combine milk, oats, banana and strawberries. Add vanilla and sugar if desired and blend until smooth. Enjoy.Veggie Surprise Smoothie
• 1 c frozen berries (any kind)
• 1 c frozen peaches
• 1 c spinach
• 1/2 c chopped cucumber, seeds and skin removed
• 1 c low-fat/skim milk
• 6 oz vanilla yogurtPreparation
1. Place ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy.
