The Career & Professional Development Center will kick off Internship & Career Days, a series of four career fair events beginning Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021. This series will connect U students directly with local and national employers who are currently hiring positions related to a variety of majors and industries. Whether you’re looking for a part-time job, a volunteer or internship opportunity or you’re ready for a full-time position, Internship & Career Days has you covered.
Last semester, Internship & Career Days brought over 300 employers to campus—virtually of course—to connect with and hire U students. This spring, employers such as BioFire Diagnostics, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Fidelity Investments and Lucid Software, to name a few, are planning to attend and hire U students to fill open positions.
All career fairs scheduled this spring will be held virtually on the U’s job board and event platform Handshake. Students need to log into Handshake and complete the career interest survey as well as fill in their profile information in order to register for the career fair events.
Similar to an in-person career fair, students should come prepared. You’ll be speaking to these employers live. So, make a good first impression by wearing professional attire (at least from the waist up). Also, upload resumes to your Handshake profile before the events so employers can reach out to you to schedule interviews. If your resume is in need of a refresh the CPDC team provides virtual resume support to help you make your resume stand out. It’s as easy as emailing your current resume to resumereviews@careers.utah.edu to have a career expert provide feedback.
New to attending virtual career fairs? No problem! CPDC hosts several virtual Career Fair Prep workshops before the fairs, as well as provide helpful resources on their Internship & Career Days webpage.
