Steve Robinson leaving Enrollment Management

Dear Colleagues,

I want to congratulate Steve Robinson, vice provost for enrollment management, on his appointment as vice provost for enrollment management at the University of Missouri. Dr. Robinson’s last day on the University of Utah campus will be April 11.

Dr. Robinson came to the U from the University of Oregon in July 2019 with a charge to lead the university’s efforts to continue the expansion and diversification of our student body. During his time here, he has worked tirelessly to bring more students to the university, and his efforts have contributed to our incredible growth, with enrollment hitting a new record of 36,881 in fall 2024.

He led the enrollment management office through the challenges of the pandemic and followed through on several new plans and ideas during his time here. He instituted a pilot of a test-optional policy for admission, which became permanent in 2024. His office launched the “Utah Direct” program last year, providing guaranteed admission to the U for some of the state’s best students. His focus on scholarships led to launching the “For Utah” scholarship, designed to help residents of the state by covering four years of full tuition and fees. He also created the Enrollment Management Council, designed to eliminate barriers and expand opportunities for students seeking a college education.

In addition to being a successful and creative leader, Dr. Robinson has been a thoughtful colleague. He has a passion for student access and brought humor and dedication to his role at the U.

Please join me in wishing Dr. Robinson all the best as he continues his career journey at Mizzou.

I will work with Paul Kohn, our new senior vice provost for strategic enrollment and student success, on a plan for enrollment management leadership after Dr. Robinson’s departure.
