Search underway for College of Engineering dean

A new search committee has been named to find the next dean of the John and Marcia Price College of Engineering.

Peter Trapa, dean of the College of Science, and Kevin Whitty, associate dean of research in the engineering college, have been named as co-chairs of the search committee. Higher education search firm AGB Search will be coordinating the process.

Engineering is one of the largest colleges at the university, with more than 5,000 undergraduates enrolled and more than 1,300 masters and doctoral students. The college also prepares more than one-third of the state’s engineering graduates. In 2023, engineering recognized more than 1,100 graduates.

The goal is to have a new dean in place by the beginning of the Fall 2024 semester. Richard Brown has served as dean since 2004 and will finish his term in June 2024.
