Robert Forbis accepts the position for a two-year term.

The University of Utah’s Programs of Public Affairs announced Robert Forbis, Ph.D., is serving as the new interim director of the programs and as a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Political Science for a two-year term. His first day was July 6.

Forbis brings extensive teaching and administrative experience in public administration and public policy from his time at Texas Tech University. His program of research is in environmental and energy politics and policy. He is the author of numerous journal articles and the book, “Altered Policy Landscapes: Fracking, Grazing, and The Bureau of Land Management” (2019).

“I would like to thank the search committee (David Carter, Mauricio “Mo” Laguan, Victoria Medina, JaTara Smith, Jesus Valero), chaired by Rick Green, for their dedicated and thoughtful work in identifying and reviewing candidates during our summer months,” said Cindy Berg, dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Science. “I would especially like to thank Rick Green for taking the interim director position in December of 2020 and leading the program during this important time. Rick’s leadership and care and concern for the program is truly exceptional and we have been very fortunate that he has been willing to serve in this important role.

Please join me in congratulating Robert and thanking Rick as we make this transition.  I look forward to working with Robert to advance the goals and plans of the programs.”
