Geology & Geophysics Open House

This family event includes tours of the Sutton Building and its collections of fossils, minerals and rocks, and more than two dozen hands-on activities about arches, dinosaurs, meteorites, earthquakes, volcanoes and more.

On Friday, Oct. 18, the Department of Geology & Geophysics will hold an open house at the Frederick Albert Sutton Building (115 S. 1460 E.) from 6-9 p.m. This family event includes tours of the Sutton Building and its collections of fossils, minerals and rocks, and more than two dozen hands-on activities about arches, dinosaurs, meteorites, earthquakes, volcanoes and more. Rocks, maps and department gear will be for sale, and experts will be on hand to identify rocks and minerals. Barbara Nash, professor emerita, will give the featured presentation at 7 p.m.
