On Feb. 11, 2027, UtahPresents, the Resiliency Center and the Center for Health Ethics, Arts, and Humanities will present an evening of storytelling with the ninth installment of “Healthcare Stories” at Kingsbury Hall. This year’s theme is “Guts!” A call for story pitches is happening now!
Guts: where the action happens. We spill our guts, have a gut feeling, laugh our guts out and tell ourselves to gut up. Our guts hold a crucial biome, connect directly to our brains, nourish us and handle the messy business of keeping us alive. We all have a relationship with our guts, both real and symbolic, at the center of who we are. This year, we invite stories full of humor, bravery, complication and investigation into the depths of what it means to be human. We want to hear how your guts work.
We welcome story pitches from across the health care community, including clinicians, patients, family members, staff, faculty and students.
- A story pitch is a short teaser that highlights the main points of your story.
- Story pitches must be submitted by the storyteller, not an assistant.
- Story pitches can be submitted as:
- A written/typed document
- An audio/video recording of two minutes or less

- Friday, Sept. 25, 2026: Story pitch deadline
- Friday, Oct. 9, 2026: Storyteller selection notifications
- Monday, Feb. 8, 2027, at 5:30 p.m.: Dress rehearsal at Kingsbury Hall
- Thursday, Feb. 11, 2027, at 7 p.m.: Performance at Kingsbury Hall
Additional time expectations for selected storytellers:
Commitment to a minimum of two individual rehearsal and coaching sessions with Gretchen Case, Ph.D., “Healthcare Stories” director. Rehearsal and coaching sessions are held one-on-one, last one and a half to two hours and will be scheduled around the availability of each storyteller. Additional rehearsal and coaching sessions with Case are available but not required.
