The Utes will be hosting a home game at Rice-Eccles Stadium against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, Sept. 12. We want to ensure our campus community and neighbors are prepared for the influx of visitors and traffic.
The game will run from 8:15 to 11:45 p.m., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m.
Transportation impacts
- Parking impacts to the West Stadium Parking Lot will begin on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m., and will continue through Sunday, Sept. 13. Notice signs stating closures will be placed at each entrance of the parking lot one week prior to notify motorists.
- Through traffic on Guardsman Way will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 5:15 to 8:45 p.m. Electronic message boards went up on Friday, Sept. 4, notifying the closure.
- This event will have zero impact on UTA TRAX, other than additional riders.
Noise and lights
- On game day, neighborhoods surrounding Rice-Eccles Stadium can expect loud noises associated with events such as music, crowds cheering, announcers speaking, cannon blasts, pyrotechnics and more.
- Residents may also notice bright illuminations coming from the stadium and possibly other areas surrounding the stadium. Red illuminations and flashing and strobing light effects will be in use in the bowl of the stadium. However, the increased sound level and bright lights will subside promptly when the event ends.
Public safety
- There will be an increased police presence during the event to direct traffic at all major thoroughfares surrounding Rice-Eccles Stadium. In addition, police will be in and around the stadium during the event, then back out into the surrounding areas to direct traffic as the event ends.
