Find joy in the off-key spirit of ‘Souvenir’ this holiday season

At Pioneer Theatre Company (PTC), enjoy a change of pace this holiday season with a hilarious yet heartfelt story, “Souvenir.” Written by PTC alum Stephen Temperley (“Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde”), the play takes audiences into the fascinating world of real-life New York socialite and confidently tone-deaf opera singer, Florence Foster Jenkins, narrated by her accompanist, Cosmé McMoon. “Souvenir” celebrates the triumph of following one’s dreams despite the odds. Or, in Jenkins’ case, a complete lack of talent, capturing her resilience and joyful delusion with a sense of reverence.

Linda Mugleston (PTC’s “Christmas in Connecticut,” Broadway’s “The Music Man”) and Bob Walton (Broadway’s “The Girl From the North Country”) will star as Jenkins and McMoon, respectively. Tony Award-Winning Co-Producer of “Stereophonic,” Wes Grantom (PTC’s “The Messenger”) will direct the production.

“Souvenir” runs from Dec. 6-21 at the new Meldrum Theatre in the Einar Nielsen Field House. Tickets are available at PioneerTheatre.org or by calling PTC’s Box Office at 801-581-6961.
