Commuting around the U

Commuter Services is bringing new services and systems to the University of Utah to make commuting as easy and stress free as possible. Our new amenities can benefit you during your daily commute.

Information Center

A state-of-the-art call center, with expert agents to assist you, has been installed at Commuter Service to improve your customer service experience. Ask them your toughest question, they can answer it. Our agents answer hundreds of phone calls daily with very little wait time. If you need to: buy a permit, update a license plate, know when the next shuttle will arrive, or get answers to any commuting question, give us a call at 801-581-6415.

A new online chat feature has also been added to our website. Visit parking.utah.edu on your desktop or mobile device and click the chat box located at the bottom right hand of our webpage to instantly be in touch with an experienced Commuter Services agent. The chat feature operates Monday – Thursday, 7:30-5p.m, and Friday from 7:30-4p.m.

The Commuter Services website has also undergone significant remodeling making the user experience easier. It offers information from a variety of departments to help you walk, drive, bike, or bus to the U and outlines the Ecofriendly initiatives we constantly strive to achieve.

Campus Bike Shop now open – affordable repairs where you need them.

Commuter Services, in partnership with our Office of Sustainability, strongly support cycling to the U and those who do. In order to support our growing community of cyclists, a Campus Bike Shop was opened in June to meet the demand and requests for bike services and maintenance. Cyclists can now schedule appointments to help resolve complex issues and fix common problems quickly. The shop is now open daily and ready to help you have the best cycling experience possible. Our mechanic has decades of experience and is ready to make your bike attack the hills and roll down the road smoothly.

Shop services include:

  • Consultations
  • Flat Repair & Replacements
  • Cable & Housing Replacements
  • Tune ups

The shop is located at In Annex B. Or, for those not familiar with campus yet, our address is:

318 S 1850 E,

New Kiosks in the Campus Store/Library Lot

Main campus is now a 100 percent pre-pay kiosk campus, with only one lot on upper campus to convert. Commuter Services has replaced the ticket booths with kiosks at the Campus Store/Library lot. Drivers can park and pay at any kiosk on campus; or use the kiosks as a point of contact for purchasing and validating parking.

There will be three main changes as a result of the new kiosk system:

  • No gates, no lines, no attendants. Customers will purchase their desired time through the kiosk using their license plate and credit card.
  • Sticker validations will only be accepted in lot 64. Convenient validation coupon codes will be provided with qualifying purchases for kiosk lots.
  • Going to the Campus Store is now easier than ever. Simply pay parking fees at the kiosks in advance, print your receipt, and then present the receipt at the Campus Store for a discount. One hour of the parking fee will be reimbursed at the time of purchase.

Kiosks work similar to a parking meter; payment must be made to begin a parking session, not when leaving the pay lot.

Shoreline Ridge Parking Garage is Awarded 2017 Excellence in Concrete Awards

The U is honored that the Shoreline Ridge Parking Garage received the 2017 Excellence in Concrete Award from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Intermountain Chapter. The Shoreline Ridge Parking Garage is the third structure to win this award at the U (Northwest Parking Garage and the Central Garage received the award in 2016).

In order to obtain this prestigious award, the concrete structure must pass judging and examination by ACI Intermountain Chapter in a number of areas. Including: sustainability, resilience, architectural and engineering merit, and innovative construction techniques. The General Contractor for the Shoreline Ridge Parking Garage, Ralph L. Wadsworth, submitted a nomination to the ACI Intermountain Chapter, knowing that they had overseen a project that surpassed regional standards.
