The University of Utah is one of the nation’s best colleges for students seeking a superb education with great career preparation at an affordable price, according to The Princeton Review.

The education services company profiled the U in the 2019 edition of its annual guide, “The Best Value Colleges: 200 Schools with Exceptional ROI for Your Tuition Investment.”

“As a leading public research institution, with co-located academic and health affairs, our students work in collaborative teams with faculty from all areas of campus who are exploring new territory,” said the U’s Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dan Reed. “This is how progress is made in an increasingly global world—where disparate cultures, contexts and experiences collide. It is opportunities like these that prepare our students for lifelong success after graduation.”

The Princeton Review chose the schools based on data it collected in 2017-18 from its surveys of administrators at more than 650 colleges. The company also factored in data from its surveys of students attending the schools as well as surveys of school alumni that PayScale.com conducted through April 2018.

In all, The Princeton Review used more than 40 data points to tally ROI (return on investment) ratings of the colleges that determined its selection of the 200 schools for the book. Topics covered everything from academics, cost and financial aid to graduation rates, student debt, alumni salaries and job satisfaction.

The Princeton Review isn’t the only organization that recognizes the U’s stellar value, achievements and offerings. Included in the infographic to the right is a sampling of other rankings from the past year in which the U made the cut.
