Annual Miniprint, Midiprint and Department of Art & Art History Holiday Sale

The annual student, faculty and alumni Miniprint-Midiprint Printmaking sale will take place in the Gittins Gallery, Dec. 6-9. The sale will include original 8 inches by 10 inches and 14 inches by 18 inches etchings, screen prints and relief prints. The sale is held in conjunction with the Department of Art and Art History Holiday sale. Ceramics, printings and drawings made by students will also be on sale in the Gittins Gallery.

Miniprint, Midiprint participants this year include: Clyde Ashby, Ed Batemen, Cameran Bentley, Dave Boogart, Erik Brunvand, Trent Call, Lewis Crawford, Justin Diggle, Morgaine Fehlauer, Diana Gentillon, Dane Goodwin, James Hadley, Anna Hansen, Spencer Jennings, J.D. MacDonald, Jazmine Martinez, Evan Jed Memmott, Andrew Rice, Brian Taylor, Apei Tsai, Rachel Urban, Sarah Winegar and others.

A Miniprint portfolio has been produced every year in the Department of Art since 1999. In December of each year a new set is produced and includes prints by about 30 artists made in a variety of techniques such as lithography, etching, relief, screen-printing, digital, dyanotype and letterpress printing. More recently, Department of Art printmakers have started to create larger sized prints (14 inches by 18 inches) that are sold in conjunction with the Miniprints.

All proceeds from the sale of the Miniprints are primarily used to assist printmaking students to travel to the Southern Graphics Council International annual conference. The conference is the largest printmaking organization in the United States. Funds are also used to assist in inviting visiting printmakers to the department.

Visiting artists are invited to give public lectures and create new editions of prints with the assistance of students. These visits give students valuable hands-on experience and the opportunity to interact with the artists during the project. Prints by visiting artists will also be available for purchase at the sale.
