[bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]It doesn’t happen all that often, but departments on campus change their names. It happens for various reasons, such as responding to a transitioning industry landscape. Since our campus safety culture survey in January, we’ve spent the last three months analyzing the data collected. Now we can tell you how we are applying some of the information you provided.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is changing its name to Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS). It may seem like a small difference, but the shift is a significant one – as it denotes what sets us apart from other safety and risk management aligned departments on campus.

This name change reflects and represents the work we do; specifically drawing attention to our primary reason for existing being to protect your health and safety on-the-job as well as our natural environment.

Although the name is changing, our purpose remains the same: providing expertise in on-the-job health and safety and the protection of our natural resources, to better the lives of our university community and inspiring others to do the same. Look for our new website in time for Fall Semester 2016. Watch also for more information related to and prompted by responses provided in the 2016 campus safety culture survey. [/bs_col]
