Get out and ride to celebrate National Bike Month.

May is National Bike Month, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast. Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more people to give biking a try.

The University is certified as a Bicycle Friendly University and celebrates Bike Month with our local government partners. With summer construction season upon us, now is the time to ride your bicycle to campus. Bike commuting improves public health through increased physical activity and reduced carbon emissions, as well as easing congestion on our campus roads.

On our hilly campus, electric bicycles play a key role in expanding sustainable transportation options and are now available at discounted prices through the end of May with U Bike Electric.

RESOURCES

  • What bikeways should you ride to campus? Plan your route using the Salt Lake City/County bikeways map or pick up your print copy at the Union or Heritage Center front desk.
  • What the most convenient place to park your bike when you arrive? The University Campus Maps hows every bike rack (with pictures!) and can tell you what areas to avoid due to campus construction activities.
  • What if get a flat or need other repairs?  Call the Campus Bike Shop. Conveniently located in central campus at the Annex, the shop offers excellent pricing, friendly service and quick turnaround times.[/bs_well]

Two locations:  Guardsman Way @ 500 South or Arapeen Drive off Sunnyside Ave.

Food and resources for bike commuters.


U Bike Electric Test Ride
May 15 | 3- 6 p.m.
Guardsman Way Parking Lot and Bike Lanes

Speak to local dealers and try an e-bike before the program ends.
