One in five Americans—over 65 million people—cope with mental health issues. One in 20 deal with serious issues. In Utah, suicide is the leading cause of death for people aged 10-24. It’s the 10th-leading cause of death overall.

Mental health is one of the most ignored, downplayed and misunderstood challenges in America today. But you can help change that.

Share your vision of “Healing Out Loud” in a short, 30-second or less video or in a longer, five-minute or less video. It can be anything: original music, dance, spoken word, art, poetry or speech. The only requirement is to be creative and be yourself.

Entering is simple. Upload your video at endstigmautah.org and fill out all required entry forms. Then, if you’re comfortable sharing, post your video to social media and use the hashtag #HealingOutLoud. Make sure to follow Huntsman Mental Health Institute on TikTok, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for news, tips and announcements about the contest.

Entries can be submitted beginning Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, at endstigmautah.org.

And what’s a contest without some great prizes? Potential prizes include Apple products, Adobe software, sports and movie tickets and more. Winning videos will also be featured during a May 2023 event and integrated into the statewide suicide prevention awareness marketing campaign.

It doesn’t matter your background or your circumstances, a person with passion and a voice can change the world. Healing Out Loud empowers you to add your unique experiences, your perspective, your story and your support to continue transforming the conversation.

Help us eliminate the stigma around mental health forever through open, productive and powerful conversations. Let’s start Healing Out Loud together. We’re excited to hear from you.
