Plazafest 2018
By Ryan Rhodes, student organizations coordinator, Student Leadership & Involvement
With over 600 recognized student organizations at the University of Utah, there’s a student organization to meet the needs of almost every student. The U is a large institution but getting involved in a student organization (or a few) is a great way to make the campus feel small. You can join a group for a hobby, personal and professional development or just to meet new people.
Come explore PlazaFest this Wednesday, Aug. 22 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. where students at the U will have the opportunity to visit with nearly 200 student organizations tabling on the Union Plaza.
“PlazaFest is the perfect kickoff to the school year. This once-per-semester opportunity allows you to explore most of the student clubs that exist on campus. And it’s the best place to discover how your college experience can be about more than just going to class,” Connor Morgan, student body president and the president of the University of Utah Club Swim & Dive.
If you do not have a chance to make it down to PlazaFest or are curious about all the recognized student organizations at the U, you can browse all of them or search by keyword or category on our webpage.
Student organizations are managed and supported by the Department of Student Leadership & Involvement. If you have questions about student organizations or how to start an organization, please go to leadership.utah.edu or contact us at studentorgs@utah.edu.
Welcome to a new academic year at the University of Utah. Whether you are new to campus, starting your sophomore year or embarking on your final semester, we hope you join us at Welcome Week 2018. Coordinated by the Office of Orientation & Transition, Welcome Week begins Thursday, Aug. 16 and continues through Sunday, Aug. 26.
Welcome Week is an exciting time on campus for all new and returning students at the U. Offices across campus kick-off a new academic year with events and opportunities for students to get involved. These programs are designed to help you discover ways to make the most of your college experience.
To access the full Welcome Week schedule, download the U of U app. If you’re new to campus (and even if you’re not), download the app right away so you don’t miss out on Welcome Week activities, contests, socials, opportunities to get involved and free food.
