The University of Utah is one of the newest members of the AI Alliance, an international community of leading technology developers and researchers dedicated to advancing responsible Artificial Intelligence. As part of the community, the U joins leading corporations and organizations, including IBM, Sony Group, NASA and National Science Foundation and other elite research universities, including Yale University, University of Notre Dame and the University of Tokyo.
This new membership comes after the U announced a groundbreaking Responsible AI Initiative in October. The Responsible AI initiative is in the process of establishing a program office and organizing advisory and executive committees.
“The U’s Responsible AI Initiative (One-U RAI) emphasizes the ethical development of artificial intelligence and its application to address important regional challenges and underscores the importance of integrating ethical considerations into AI research,” said Manish Parashar, director of the SCI Institute. “By participating in the AI Alliance, the One-U RAI can broaden its impacts while benefitting from the conversations, knowledge and experiences shared within the Alliance.”
