The University of Utah’s Student Affairs is excited to celebrate the grand opening of the Student Health and Wellness Hub on March 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Student Services Building, Room 350. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 12:15 p.m., followed by remarks from Sherrá Watkins, associate vice president for Student Health and Wellness.
The Student Health and Wellness Hub is a co-located space that brings together the University Counseling Center, the Center for Campus Wellness, and the Center for Disability & Access. Established as part of Student Affairs’ strategic initiative to optimize access to health and wellness services, this effort unites essential resources in one location to remove barriers, streamline access, and increase awareness of available support.
“When all of these resources are housed in the same space, students can access the support they need without concerns about stigma or assumptions being made about which department they are visiting,” Watkins said. “This integrated approach ensures seamless coordination and creates a more supportive environment where students feel safe accessing wellness services.”
During the grand opening, attendees are invited to tour the new spaces within the hub, including private rooms for the new Spiritual Wellness program, individual testing rooms with cameras and dedicated areas for programming and peer mentoring. Additionally, key improvements include soundproofed offices, ADA-compliant bathrooms, accessible furniture, and sensory-friendly lighting.
The grand opening of the Student Health and Wellness Hub marks a significant milestone in Student Affairs’ ongoing commitment to student success and overall well-being by enhancing access to and awareness of essential health and wellness resources. Whether seeking mental health support, wellness services, or academic accommodations, students now have a dedicated space designed to support their well-being.
