The University of Utah will conduct a test of the Campus Alert system on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., which helps meet our annual requirement to ensure effective emergency communication across our community. This test is crucial for assessing the speed, reliability, and reach of the system, helping us improve safety for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Before the test
Follow this link to log into the Campus Information Systems and “Campus Alert” tile. Verify your primary cell phone number and any additional cell numbers through which you wish to receive alerts. SMS alerting is the fastest and most reliable way to communicate hazards, threats and protective actions. Your primary email address should already be loaded in the system. You may wish to add an additional email address. Don’t forget to save your changes.
Additionally, we encourage members of the university community to download the SafeU app. Students with the MobileU app installed can also receive alerts through that platform.
What to expect during the test
At approximately 11:00 a.m. a test alert will be sent through multiple channels, including SMS text, email, the SafeU app, the MobileU app, and at https://alert.utah.edu. You may receive notifications through some or all of these methods. The alert will be clearly marked as a test and will not require any action on your part.
Alert channels
- SMS: Text messages will be sent to the mobile numbers registered with the university. A trusted link will be provided in the SMS which leads to a web page hosted by our vendor, Rave Mobile Safety. The contents of the “more info” page is the same found in the email.
