Film festival exploring Native American representation in the American West

Join the American West Center for a two-day film festival! The AWC will screen two films on January 17th and 18th at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Both films are free to the public. You can learn more about the event here: https://awc.utah.edu/calendar.php.

Friday, January 17th

Delve into the iconic Western, “The Searchers,” with a conversation featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning author Glenn Frankel (author of “The Searchers: The Making of an American Legend”). The event starts at 12 PM in ART 271, followed by a screening of the film with an introduction and Q&A by Glenn Frankel at 6:30 PM at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.

Saturday, January 18th

Explore the documentary “Reel Injun: On the Trail of the Hollywood Indian,” followed by a public Q&A that examines how Native Americans have been portrayed in Westerns throughout film history. The screening starts at 2 PM.
