As a student, employee or patient of a public institution like the University of Utah, you are especially vulnerable to cybercrime. The U and University of Utah Health, however, have policies in place to protect the privacy of our users and guests to create a culture of cybersecurity and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws, such as FERPA and HIPAA.

It’s really important to understand which policies and rules directly impact you—the Acceptable Use Rule and the Data Classification and Encryption Rule, for instance, are mandatory for all U community members.
