Update on Bomb Hoax at University of Utah 

Police searched the Eccles Health Sciences Library building the morning of Friday, May 6, and determined that the call was a hoax and there was no threat to campus. The building returned to normal operations at approximately 11:35 a.m.

Statement from Interim Police Chief Jason Hinojosa:

Friday morning, May 6, at approximately 9:45 a.m. University of Utah Police were made aware of a bomb threat to the Eccles Health Sciences Library. The initial call was made to a local media entity who then reported it to police. University police immediately responded, and the building was evacuated. Police have searched the building with an explosive detection K-9 unit and determined that the call was a hoax and there was no threat to campus. The building returned to normal operations at approximately 11:35 a.m. University Police are being assisted in this investigation by the FBI and have confirmed the individual lives out of state and has not been in Utah recently.
