[bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]The UAC, which has grown to nearly 200 students since opening in the fall of 2014, has a beautiful new home in the heart of the Incheon, South Korea Global Campus. The new 9-story building has an expansive first-floor welcome center, large lecture halls, smart classrooms, computer lab, student lounge and club offices, as well as administrative, faculty and staff offices. IT will eventually be home to more than 1000 U students from around the world, including students from main campus seeking a learning abroad experience in the heart of Asia.

UCARD DESIGN CONTEST
Contest runs Monday, April 4-Monday, April 18, 2016[bs_row class=”row”][bs_col class=”col-sm-4″]Ucard[/bs_col]
[bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]The University of Utah’s UCard is getting a facelift.

UCard will sponsor a contest to determine the card’s new design. The contest runs April 4-18 and is open to all students, alumni, faculty, staff and fans who are 18 years of age or older. The top 10 submissions will be selected by a university committee and then presented to the public for a vote. The winner will be selected on April 29.

In addition to seeing their design on the UCard, the first-place winner will also receive an iPad. The second-place winner will receive a $200 gift card from the University of Utah Campus Store and the third-place winner will receive a $100 Campus Store gift card.

Participants may submit their designs online at ucardcontest.com. After the submission period has closed, watch for updates in @TheU, the Aux News, various campus social media outlets and the university homepage to make sure your vote is counted.

‘BEACONS OF EXCELLENCE’ AWARDS: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

[bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]Each year, the University of Utah’s Office of Undergraduate Studies and the Office of Student Affairs recognizes people, programs and projects committed to creating a transformative, undergraduate educational experience.

Beacons of Excellence awards celebrate “best practices” found across campus, including labs, student clubs, individuals, centers and more. Since the award was created in 2012, hundreds of nominations have been submitted by students, faculty, staff and community members.

Nominations are currently being accepted and are due by Thursday, April 14 at 5 p.m.

Recipients of the 2016 awards will be honored throughout the year in print and other media outlets on campus and in the community.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: STUDENT MEDIA COUNCIL
Deadline extended to April 25

[/bs_col][bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]Student Media at the University Student Mediaof Utah has two primary missions: First, to engage, provoke, inspire and connect campus by telling the compelling stories of the University of Utah community; and second, to provide a hands-on experiential learning environment in media where students can put into practice skills and ideas from the classroom.

The council oversees a student fee that helps support the Student Media department, and runs The Daily Utah Chronicle, K-UTE, DigitalU, University Media Sales and Student Media Marketing. By becoming a student member of the Student Media Council, students can play an active role in helping administer this student fee. Student voices are also vital in helping establish how Student Media grows and develops and best serves the campus community. The council is currently looking to fill multiple vacant student position.
