Student Media Council Faculty Applications Open[bs_row class=”row”][bs_col class=”col-sm-4″][/bs_col][bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]Apply online at ustudentmedia.com/councilapplication.
Established in 2009 by the Board of Trustees, the Student Media Council oversees a student fee which helps support the Student Media department, and runs the The Daily Utah Chronicle, K-UTE Radio, Wasatch Magazine, thegeekwave.com, Studio200, University Media Sales, and AdThing, and a variety of other student driven media and journalism initiatives. The primary responsibility of members is to ensure that student media entities on campus provide a meaningful undergraduate experience and vocational orientation, and operate in a fiscally responsible manner.
By becoming a member of the Student Media Council, students, faculty, and industry professionals can play an active role in helping administer this student fee. Student voices are also vital in helping establish how Student Media grows and develops and best serves the campus community.
Members on this Council serve specific, staggered terms. For faculty members, a typical term is three years.
Members are required to attend a monthly meeting. Specifics of day and time are determined each semester depending on members’ schedules. Members will also be asked to review financial statements, applications for positions and funding and other documents via email, and possibly provide input to the rest of the Council via email. Occasional special meetings of the Council may also be called.
Open council positions:
- Faculty – One position with a three-year term: This position is for an at-large faculty member from anywhere on campus.
Summer and Fall Textbook Adoption Requests Due[bs_row class=”row”][bs_col class=”col-sm-4″][/bs_col][bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]If you haven’t submitted your textbook adoptions to the University Campus Store for 2018 summer and fall semesters, it’s not too late. Submitting adoptions is easy—simply complete the University Campus Store’s online textbook adoption form for a Quick Adoption. If you need assistance, please contact Dave Nelson at 801-581-8321 or dnelson@campusstore.utah.edu.
Prompt submission of textbook adoptions by faculty each semester enables the Campus Store to stock books in a timely manner and increases the chances of offering used textbooks, eBooks and rental textbooks, all of which help students save up to 50 percent off of new book prices. The Campus Store relies heavily on your timely response, so please don’t delay.
Final textbook adoptions for summer and fall 2018 semesters are due on March 16 and April 6, respectively.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Campus Store’s textbook adoption program and best wishes for another great academic year.[/bs_col][/bs_row]
