The University of Utah's Board of Trustees voted unanimously to grant approval for President Taylor Randall to accept an invitation for the University of Utah to join the Big 12 Conference, effective for the 2024-25 academic year.

A generous $20 million gift from Clay and Marie Wilkes will leverage the U’s location and interdisciplinary knowledge to create the Wilkes Center for Climate Science and Policy. The interdisciplinary center will focus on education, research, innovation and entrepreneurship. All of these components are meant to foster new ideas toward actionable solutions to the problems posed by climate change.
