The Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence provides instructor consultations and observations on an individual basis. Consultations are offered before, during and after each semester, as well as observations of teaching throughout the semester.

Observations


In order to streamline our services, CTLE has incorporated the video-recording option with the In-class Observation.

In-class Observation

A CTLE consultant observes one of your class sessions. After the observation, you’ll meet with the consultant to discuss feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Note: Video-recording option available.

Online Course Observation

You’ll enroll a CTLE consultant in your Canvas course as an observer so they can observe your teaching. After the observation, you’ll meet with the CTLE consultant to discuss feedback and review online teaching resources.

Syllabus Review

A CTLE consultant will review your syllabus and then meet with you to offer feedback on how you can refine it.

Consultation/Materials Review

You’ll meet with a CTLE consultant to review your teaching materials or to discuss a teaching topic or your choice.

Departmental Workshop

A CTLE consultant will facilitate a workshop on a teaching topic of your choice for your department faculty/instructors.

Mid-term Student Feedback


Mid-term student feedback is designed to give you personal feedback from your students that can be used to improve your course before the end-of-term student feedback that can often end up in your teaching portfolio and/or files for Retention, Promotion and Tenure purposes.

Online Mid-term Student Feedback

Your students will respond to an online questionnaire about what is going well in the course and what could be improved. After the one-week feedback period closes, you’ll get the compiled student feedback via email.

In-class Mid-Term Focus Group

A CTLE consultant will come to a portion of a class session, facilitate a focus group, and gather student feedback. After the focus group, you’ll meet with the consultant to discuss student feedback and resources for refinement of your teaching practices.

Program Focus Group

A CTLE consultant will conduct a focus group to gather student feedback regarding the program. After the focus group, we will email to you the transcribed responses.

 


TAFT-NICHOLSON CENTER PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING INSTRUCTOR APPLICATIONS
Taft-Nicholson Center
The university’s Montana-based Taft-Nicholson Center Program is now accepting faculty course applications for the 2016 summer season. The Center Program Steering Committee has posted a faculty/instructor online application form for course offerings on its website.

This form now establishes a formal process for yearly courses held at the Center, which is open from mid June until mid October. Applications are currently being accepted for single or multi-year courses from seasons 2016-2018.

The deadline for courses to be taught during the summer 2016 season is May 15.  Every effort will be made to notify applicants by July 1 for the upcoming season.
