Legacy items left in laboratories, such as chemicals or equipment, can increase costs while delaying new occupant remodeling projects and startup operations.  To forestall such situations investigators vacating University of Utah facilities or relocating within the U system are responsible for leaving laboratories in a state suitable for re-occupancy or renovation.

The university’s clearance checklist was created to direct lab personnel in their efforts.  Once the closeout actions have been completed, either the Principal Investigator or a departmental representative should contact OEHS, 801-581-6590, and Radiological Health, 801-581-6141 (if applicable), to schedule a final walk through inspection.

NOTE:  Some closeout tasks require 30-60 days prior notification in order to accomplish necessary decontamination, etc.
