When working with any type of tool, be it hand held, or power, employees are responsible to understand how to properly and safely operate it.

When working with any type of tool, be it hand held, or power, employees are responsible to understand how to properly and safely operate it. At the university, supervisors are responsible to maintain evidence of the employee’s trainings on the proper use of each piece of equipment. This is true for any existing or new tool that is introduced to the department. Evidence of training can include a roster from a training session, a signed statement from the employee acknowledging the training occurred, and should always include the information provided during the training.
