The Utah Board of Higher Education approved the University of Utah’s new Center for Community and Cultural Engagement, CCE, at their Nov. 21 meeting.
“The University of Utah’s Student Affairs team is committed to supporting the success of all students at the U,” said Lori McDonald, vice president for student affairs. “We are grateful for the board’s approval and look forward to the great work this center will do.”
Created in response to H.B. 261, the CCE will complement the work of the new Center for Student Access and Resources, CSAR. CSAR will manage cohort programs focused on student retention, graduation and career readiness, as well as over $2 million in scholarship opportunities. CSAR will also house student resource navigators who will connect students with the support they need to succeed at the U and beyond.
CCE aims to provide all students with opportunities to engage in multicultural learning. By offering educational opportunities and celebrating unique heritages, experiences and historical contributions, the center creates pathways for students to explore community and culture.
