Giving Day 2025: Celebrating 175 Years of U

Save the date! The seventh annual Giving Day kicks off on April 8th and will last for 1,850 minutes in honor of the University’s founding year. This is the one time each year that the entire University of Utah and University of Utah Health community comes together in a fundraising event that highlights projects and programs across the entire U. And this Giving Day is going to be extra special as we celebrate the 175th anniversary of the U.

There will be two main events happening on campus during Giving Day this year:

  • We will be celebrating university faculty and staff donors on April 8th and 9th in The Den at the A. Ray Alpin Student Union from 10am – 4pm. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to get some goodies AND stay tuned for more information about a super special gift for donors who give $175 or more on Giving Day!
  • On April 8th, the U Make a Difference event will take place outside of the Student Union from 11am – 2pm. Students, faculty, and staff can write thank-you cards, grab some food, and even participate in a cash grab sponsored by Pepsi to make donations to areas they care about.
  • Another way to get involved is by sharing about Giving Day on your social media networks. Click here to get pre-designed photos and pre-written captions you can share.

As many of you know, there is an empty portico across from John R. Park’s statue in front of the John R. Park building. We believe everyone who has ever shared their precious funds to advance the mission of this university belongs there. Watch this video to see our inspiration and then post your photo in the empty portico. Click here to take your photo and the background will be added for you. Feel free to post your photo to social media using #UGDClimb as well for a chance to win a Utah Prize Pack.

Please mark your calendar and plan to attend the faculty and staff event and celebrate Giving Day at the U!
