First-week counts suggest it will be another record-breaking enrollment year at the University of Utah.
For the third year in a row, the U welcomed an incoming class of more than 5,000 students. The more than 5,500 first-year students who started classes earlier this week represent the school’s largest class to date.
“Again, more students across Utah and the rest of the country see the University of Utah as a destination,” said Steve Robinson, the U’s senior associate vice president for enrollment management. “Our record growth for the fourth year in a row is a testament to the value of our university.”
As a whole, the student body exceeded 35,000 members for the first time in the school’s history. A record number of those students are undergraduates.
This year’s growth follows increases in 2022, 2021 and 2020.
Official enrollment numbers will be released in October after census counts are completed at all schools in the Utah System of Higher Education.
