Intel has named the U’s Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute as one of its Graphics and Visualization Institutes of XeLLENCE. Along with the Texas Advanced Computing Center and the Visualization Institute of the University of Stuttgart, the SCI Institute will receive funding to support graduate students and postdoctoral fellows research in visualization and obtain access to new Intel architecture.

“The SCI Institute, an international leader in visualization, imaging and scientific computing, is thrilled to be selected as a member in this elite founding group of Intel Graphics and Visualization Institutes of XeLLENCE,” said Chris Johnson, Founding Director of the SCI Institute. “As future Intel Xe architecture products are deployed to further augment visual computing, we look forward to ongoing research and open source contributions in collaboration with Intel and the Intel GVI centers.”
