Changes happening this week in TIAA accounts

Fund and account changes will be happening in TIAA accounts this week. Changes to accounts with Fidelity Investments will begin on Sept. 10. For additional information on retirement plan changes, see the HR website.

On Aug. 17, TIAA will begin mapping your current investment options to the new investment options as outlined in the TIAA Transition Guide. Mutual fund balances will then be transferred to the new contract that was created for you at the end of July.  The fund changes and transfers should be complete by Friday, Aug. 20. During this time, you will still have access to your TIAA accounts and will be able to see all funds in your TIAA accounts when you log into your account – there will not be any type of black-out period.

Any annuity balances you have will remain in your existing “legacy account.” The funds in the legacy accounts will be included in the calculation of the account fees; however, all the fees will be deducted from the new account.  You may choose to transfer the annuities balances in your old account to your new account if you wish, or you can leave them in the old account.  The new accounts have different terms for the TIAA Traditional Annuity.  Before you transfer TIAA Traditional funds from your old account to your new account, you should talk with a TIAA financial consultant at 1‑800-842-2252.

Department flu shot clinics

Our regular flu season is coming soon.  Employees and their family members will be encouraged to get this year’s flu vaccine, as well as the COVID vaccine.  A flu shot will count as a WellU Activity again this year.

HR will host a flu shot clinic again as part of this year’s Employee Appreciation Day activities.  However, if your department or college wants to skip the lines, you can schedule your own flu clinic.  Contact Wendy Poppleton at wendy.poppleton@utah.edu for information on scheduling a flu clinic at a location near you.
