The Wall Street Journal’s 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. rankings are out, and the University of Utah came in at No. 43!

The Wall Street Journal explained the methodology used for the ranking:

“The WSJ/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. ranking was developed and executed in collaboration with our research partners College Pulse and Statista. The ranking scores colleges based on the following components. The weight each component is given in the ranking is indicated as a percentage. Throughout, we use the latest data available for analysis.”

Methodology components:

  • Student outcomes (70%)
  • Learning environment (20%)
  • Diversity (10%)

Money

The University of Utah has been rated as one of the Best Colleges in America 2023 by Money magazine.

According to Money’s website, “Money’s latest Best Colleges rating offers a practical analysis of more than 700 four-year colleges. We score data in three main buckets: quality, affordability and student outcomes.”

Forbes

The University of Utah has made Forbes’ list of America’s Best-In-State Employers 2023.

Forbes explained the methodology used for the ranking:

“America’s Best-In-State Employers 2023 have been identified based on an independent survey of employees working for companies from all industry sectors employing more than 500 employees within the United States. The final calculation is based on a total of over 2.1 million employer recommendations. The evaluation was made on a state-by-state basis and is based on three distinct criteria.”

  • In-State Indirect Recommendations
  • National in-industry Indirect Recommendations

Forbes explained the methodology used for the ranking:

“The Best Employers for Women 2023 have been identified in an independent survey from a vast sample of more than 60,000 U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 1,000 people within the United States. The sample included more than 40,000 women. The evaluation was based on four different criteria.”

  • Direct recommendations work topics in general
  • Direct recommendations on topics relevant to women
  • Indirect recommendations
  • Diversity among top executives/board
