StoryCorps visit to Salt Lake City postponed indefinitely

The recording studio was scheduled to be in SLC later this month.

StoryCorps, a renowned nonprofit organization celebrating the stories of everyday Americans, has canceled its spring 2020 tour stop in Salt Lake City. In partnership with KUER, NPR Utah, StoryCorps was to record the stories of Utahns in its MobileBooth recording studio at Olympic Legacy Plaza at the Gateway from March 25 – April 24.

“Although we’re disappointed that we won’t be able to bring this remarkable storytelling experience to Salt Lake this year, we’re hopeful StoryCorps will visit Utah in the near future,” said KUER Station Manager Joel Meyer. “Cancelling is the best decision for the health and public safety of our community.”

Utahns who have already signed up for a recording session will be contacted by StoryCorps in the coming weeks to confirm their cancellation. In the meantime, any duo with a story to share are encouraged to participate by recording their conversation with the StoryCorps Mobile App. The app guides users through the interview experience from start to finish and allows them to upload the audio to the StoryCorps Archives at the Library of Congress.
