The University of Utah is a qualifying employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. As an employee at the University, you may qualify to have a portion of your student loan forgiven if you have worked the required amount of time.
The University has partnered with Fidelity to bring employees a new Public Service Loan Forgiveness tool. The new solution may help you qualify for PSLF through a simplified, automated enrollment process, with access to professional assistance along the way.
To qualify for PSLF, you must meet the following criteria:
- Work for a qualifying employer – the University is a qualifying employer
- Work full time
- Have a federal direct loan
- Be enrolled in a qualifying repayment plan
- Make 120 total loan payments with a qualifying employer
For more information about how to qualify and apply for PSLF, visit Fidelity’s website at: https://communications.fidelity.com/pi/pslf/pa/
The SAVI Public Service Loan Forgiveness tool is also still available through TIAA. For information on the SAVI tool, see TIAA’s website at TIAA.org/uofu/student.
You do not need to have a retirement account with either vendor to be able to use the Fidelity or TIAA tool.
If you need your PSLF form signed by a University representative, please send it to Human Resources via encrypted email through the HR Website.
