Injuries caused by lightning strikes are the No. 1 severe weather incidents for the state of Utah.

When organizing outdoor activities, check the local forecast in advance of the activity and plan accordingly. Use the meteorology department’s website to check local and regional weather. Have substitute plans in place if weather impacts your activity.

University employees need to be aware of the steps and actions to take in the event of severe weather when working outdoors. If you hear thunder, get indoors. Consult the campus Emergency Response Guide for additional severe weather guidelines.
