OSHER Institute’s 15th anniversary

In 2019, the Osher Institute of Lifelong Learning is celebrating 15 years of serving students age “50 and better” at the University of Utah. Starting with just 49 members in 2004 after receiving our seed grant from the Osher Foundation, today we have grown to over 1,700 members who actively engage at the university in four terms of continuing education classes. Some members are U alumni, some are emeritus staff and faculty and others just adopt the U as another of their favorite educational institutions to support. Many emeritus faculty members enjoy teaching adult learners through Osher, such as Tim Chambless, Larry Gerlach, Lindsay Adams, Bruce and Margaret Landesman and Walter Jones, just to name a few.

To celebrate our success, we will be hosting an anniversary party at Little America on May 20, 2019. We expect 700 to 800 of our members will attend, including our own very recently retired Fred Esplin. The following day begins the 36 hours of U Giving Day.
