One week left to participate in the 2023 sense of belonging survey

A sample of 10,000 students are being asked to participate in a survey to help the University of Utah better understand their perceptions and experiences around their sense of belonging. Students who complete the sense of belonging survey will help shape a culture of belonging at the U.

Belonging is defined by the university as “a person’s knowing that their authentic self is affirmed and supported.” Information from the survey will help administrators set policies, practices, and resources that better support the university campus community. Ultimately, understanding student experiences around sense of belonging will support efforts to ensure student experiences are meaningful, successful and positive.

The survey opened Wednesday, Jan. 24, and closes Tuesday, Feb. 14. Select students from a random sample will receive an email to their UMail account with a link to complete the survey.

Students are being asked to take these three simple actions:

  1. Watch your UMail inbox for the “Please Complete the U of U Sense of Belonging Survey” email
  2. Take the survey
  3. Help shape a culture of belonging at the U

The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete, and participation is voluntary. For those who chose to participate, questions may be skipped, and it is possible to exit the survey at any time. Student responses will be protected and treated as confidential, and results will be presented in summary form so no individual can be identified.

For questions about the survey, please contact the Office of Student Affairs Assessment & Analytics, at assessment@sa.utah.edu.
