New associate vice president for student development and inclusion

Bryan Hubain joins the university in a slightly modified position from the previous associate vice president for student development role.

University of Utah Vice President for Student Affairs Lori McDonald announced the appointment of Bryan Hubain as associate vice president for student development and inclusion. Hubain will begin his role Nov. 18, 2019.

With more than a decade of Higher Education experience, Hubain joins the U after spending the last three years at California Polytechnic State University as the associate dean of students and director of the Cross Cultural Centers.

“Bryan is known for being an outstanding scholar-practitioner and an excellent communicator,” said McDonald. “Our campus will greatly benefit from his inclusive leadership style.”

Hubain’s past experience also includes overseeing the Pride Center, Women & Gender Equity Center, MuliCultural Center and Men & Masculinities. Additionally, he has worked with pre-collegiate bridge programs, student outreach initiative, diversity trainings, recruitment of students of color, retention of faculty of color and classroom instruction.

The associate vice president for student development and inclusion is a slightly modified position from the original associate vice president for student development position to include an explicit emphasis on inclusion. The offices which report to this role have also been modified.

Hubain holds a Doctorate in Higher Education with and emphasis in Diversity and Higher Learning from the University of Denver and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Florida International University.
